What is FAI?

FAI (femoroacetabular impingement) is when there is friction in the hip joint caused by too much bone. There are two types of FAI and it looks like I have both (Cam/Pincer FAI), but the doctors think its too mild to justify further surgery at this stage.

Here is a website with a good run down on what FAI is: http://www.hipfai.com/and if you have FAI (or suspect you do) Clinical Graphics provides a great service where you can get 3D modelling and a clear diagnosis.  I was getting conflicting information from multiple people, the report from Clinical Graphics gave me very clear information about the structural abnormalities in my hip.
